As she performs, Leeloo is attacked by Mangalores, who have snuck onto te cruise ship. On the cruise, Korben is invited to watch the performance of the alien singer Diva Plavalaguna. Leeloo by now can speak English and tells Korben that she will protect him. Korben manges to get a hold of Leeloo and makes his way into space while Cornelius and David decide to wait for them in Egypt, where the altar for the five elements are to be placed. ![]() ![]() Korben recovers and decides to follow them. The trip was rigged by the Special Forces as Korben was a former member who has been re-drafted for the upcoming war.įather Vito Cornelius, David and Leeloo break into Korben's home, knock him out and take his tickets. She gets to the letter "V" before Cornelius and his assistant David go after Korben, who has won a trip to space. Leeloo then starts surfing the web attempting to learn as much about modern Earth as she can. As Cornelius translates Leeloo's words, they find out that the four stones have been entrusted to another. He takes her to Father Vito Cornelius, a local priest in the hopes of finding out about her language and the tattoo on her wrist that shows the symbols of the five elements. Korben takes the young woman home and manages to find our her name is Leeloo. The woman escapes the lab and lands in the back seat of Korben Dallas' taxi. The clone is revealed to be a young caucasian woman who speaks an ancient language. Earth's scientists manage to clone the being from this, mesmerised at its flawless DNA. All that can be salvaged from the wreckage is the hand of the Fifth Element. In the early 20th century, an alien race known as the Mondoshawans collect the five elements in order to protect them from the servants of The Evil.ģ00 years later, the Mondoshawans are on their way to Earth when they are assaulted by alien guerillas known as Mangalores. She is played by Milla Jovovich.įor thousands of years, Earth has been the holding the four elemental stones and fifth element in the form of a human being needed to combat the The Ultimate Evil and save the world. The guy does have a lot of love to give, and he does deserve getting it back (maybe just not with someone who's still learning human behavior).Leeloominaï Lekatariba Lamina-Tchaï Ekbat De Sebat (shortened to Leeloo) is the love interest of Korben Dallas and the Fifth Element in the movie of the same name. It really lends insight into his despair over his failed marriage and his deep affection for his cat, the only affection he seems to have in his life. This is textbook narcissistic behavior, and it's clear that Korben had a rough childhood. She's expressing regret over giving birth to him because she's mad he didn't invite her on vacation. While kids may not notice how toxic this behavior is, she's not exactly telling him something as frivolous as not to eat dessert before dinner. Over vacation tickets? Really? The guy just lost his job and is still reeling from a difficult divorce. He tries to explain that he's not exactly on vacation, but she just irately cuts him off and continues to barrel over everything he says, going as far as unwishing his birth. While her son is trying to save the world, Korben's mom repeatedly calls to guilt trip him for not inviting her on the "vacation" after his winning is announced on the radio (thanks, Ruby). Can he just give her a minute to adjust before pouncing? Their "happy" ending leaves a bad taste in many fans' mouths. Not only is Korben coaxing a confused Leeloo to possibly sacrifice her life in this moment, but she's, once again, barely conscious when they fend off the attacking Evil. Given that she's still learning about the human condition by the film's close, the kiss at the end isn't gratifying. Granted, she does have a grasp on the "this is my body, not yours" concept, but it's still not enough to warrant a relationship with Korben by the end of the movie - which appears to take place less than a week after the movie's initial flashback sequence. Leeloo has a new body that she doesn't understand how to use, and she has no concept of human behavior, culture, or even how to communicate with Korben in any meaningful way. Sure, Leeloo is technically a very old supreme being, but she's essentially a toddler by human standards. Korben sussed out the meaning on his own already, but it's not just creepy when he doesn't ask permission.
